Miami is located in South Florida on the Atlantic coast bordering Key Biscayne Bay and at the mouth of the Miami River. The name “Miami”means “Big Water” in the language of local indians, though nowadays Americans call it a “Geteway of the Americas” and “Cruise Capital of the World”. Miami is considered to be the second most humid city in the U.S. In the summer months the temperature is between 30℃-35℃on average with lots of humidity, as the rain and storms never stop. The hottest month is August. Autumn passes here without making much of an impression, as the rain continues and the temperature drops only slightly. Autumn is also a season of hurricanes. However, from December to May the temperature remains stable, around 21℃-30℃, and winter and spring are the most crowded periods. According to statistics spring is also the best time to visit Miami. On average there are 248 sunny days per year.
